Tavis Smiley interviewed the authors of this report but I cannot locate it anywhere on the net. Their research shows there were 116 thousand black millionaires in 2003 (out of 2.5 million overall). 80-85% owned their own business. About one thousand were
athletes.

The mystery deepens. The Monifa Thomas on the show is not the same one who writes articles (many concerning the economic state of African-Americans) for the Chicago Sun-Times.
